xmas with a twist

This summer Lake Geneva’s Horticultural Hall will be home to a werewolf, a vampire, and a mummy. The Lake Geneva Theatre Company’s production of Charles Ludlam’s The Mystery of Irma Vep has it all. A spoof of Gothic horror and Victorian melodrama, this award winning comedy will delight audiences of all ages with a twisting tale of the Lord Edgar’s Mandacrest Estate and its mysterious inhabitants. The play was first produced by Ludlam's Ridiculous Theatrical Company, opening in New York City in 1984 and closing two years later. It continues to be produced around the world delighting audiences with its quick wit, quick costume changes and impeccable comic timing.

Here is what the critics have to say about the play:

"Far and away the funniest two hours on a New York stage....What more meaningful gift
could Ludlam bequeath [audiences] than to leave them eternally laughing."

-N.Y. Times

"A really good laugh ... The story has to be seen to be believed."
- N.Y Post

"Lunatic fun that keeps you in stitches."
- N.Y. Daily News
